Gum Disease
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a common oral health condition that affects the gums surrounding the teeth. There are different types and stages of gum disease, each with its own set of symptoms and potential consequences.
The two main types of gum disease are gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease and is characterized by red, swollen gums that may bleed during brushing or flossing. If left untreated, gingivitis can progress to periodontitis, a more advanced form of gum disease. Periodontitis involves the destruction of the tissues and bone that support the teeth, leading to tooth loss and other oral health complications.
Regular dental cleanings and professional treatments are essential in preventing and treating gum disease. Dental cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup, reducing the risk of gum inflammation and infection. Professional treatments, such as scaling and root planing, help to remove bacteria and promote gum tissue healing.
Several risk factors can increase the likelihood of developing gum disease. Poor oral hygiene, smoking, diabetes, and hormonal changes can all contribute to gum disease. By maintaining good oral hygiene practices, including regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings, you can reduce the risk of gum disease.
Early detection and treatment of gum disease are vital for preventing tooth loss and maintaining overall oral health. Regular dental check-ups allow your dentist to identify and address any signs of gum disease before it progresses. Proper oral care, along with regular dental visits, can help prevent gum disease and promote a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Pinhole Gum Grafting
Pinhole Gum Grafting is a revolutionary and minimally invasive technique used to effectively treat gum recession. Gum recession occurs when the gum tissue that surrounds the teeth starts to shrink or pull back, leading to tooth sensitivity, root exposure, and an unaesthetic smile.
Pinhole Gum Grafting procedure has over 90% success rate as per many studies like this.
If you are experiencing gum recession and are concerned about tooth sensitivity or the appearance of your smile, Pinhole Gum Grafting may be the right solution for you. Consult with a skilled periodontist to learn more about this innovative and effective treatment option.
