Periodontist Broomfield
What Is a Periodontist? What They Do, When to See One, and What to Expect when you visit one in Broomfield
A periodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum diseases and other conditions that affect the supporting structures of the teeth. Their main responsibilities include evaluating and maintaining the health of the gums, jawbone, and connective tissues, as well as providing specialized treatments and surgeries to address periodontal issues.
It is appropriate to seek the care of a periodontist when you experience symptoms such as bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, loose teeth, receding gums, or if you have a family history of gum diseases. Regular dental visits are also important to ensure early detection and treatment of any underlying periodontal problems.
During a visit to a periodontist Broomfield co, patients can expect a thorough examination of their gums, teeth, and overall oral health. The periodontist may recommend non-surgical treatments like scaling and root planing, which involve removing plaque and tartar buildup from below the gum line.
They may also perform surgical procedures such as gum grafts, laser treatments, regenerative procedures, dental implant placement, and periodontal pocket reduction procedures, depending on the severity of the condition.
In addition to their role in addressing gum diseases, a periodontist Broomfield co can also perform cosmetic procedures such as dental crown lengthening and gum grafts to enhance the appearance of the smile.
If you are experiencing any gum-related issues, it is crucial to seek the expertise of a periodontist. With their specialized knowledge and skills, they can provide effective treatments to improve your overall oral health and maintain a healthy smile.
What Does a Periodontist Do?
A periodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of gum diseases and the overall health of your oral soft tissues. Their expertise extends beyond general dentistry, allowing them to provide specialized care for patients with gum issues and other related conditions.
One of the main responsibilities of a periodontist is to address gum disease, which is a common oral health problem. They have the knowledge and skills to identify and treat various stages of gum disease, including gingivitis and periodontitis.
Through their thorough examination, they can determine the best treatment options for each individual, ranging from non-surgical procedures to surgical interventions.
Non-surgical treatments like scaling and root planing, which involve removing plaque and tartar buildup below the gum line, are typically the first line of defense against gum disease. However, if the condition has progressed, a periodontist may recommend surgical procedures such as gum grafts, laser treatments, regenerative procedures, dental implant placements, or periodontal pocket reduction procedures.
Beyond addressing gum disease, a periodontist is also skilled in performing cosmetic procedures to enhance the appearance of your smile. This can include dental crown lengthening and gum grafts to achieve an aesthetically pleasing outcome.
In summary, a periodontist plays a crucial role in maintaining your oral health by diagnosing and providing a wide range of treatments for gum diseases and related conditions.
Whether you require preventive care or complex procedures, a periodontist Broomfield co can offer specialized dental services to ensure the health and beauty of your gums and overall oral cavity.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are a type of prosthetic tooth that replaces missing teeth. They are typically made from titanium and they are surgically inserted into the jawbone by a dentist or an oral surgeon. Dental implants provide an artificial tooth root that is securely anchored to the jaw, providing a strong foundation for replacement teeth, such as crowns, bridges, and dentures.
Gum Diseases
Gum diseases, or periodontal disease, is a serious medical condition that affects the tissues and bone structures around your teeth. It is caused by bacteria in plaque that accumulate on your teeth and gums. If left untreated, gum diseases can lead to tooth loss and other health problems.
Pinhole Gum Grafting
Pinhole gum grafting is a dental procedure used to treat areas of the gumline that have experienced recession. It’s a minimally invasive technique that can be used to repair both aesthetic and functional issues in the mouth, such as increased teeth sensitivity and exposed tooth roots.
All-ON-4
The All-on-4 dental implant system is one of the most revolutionary treatments available to patients in need of denture replacement. Unlike traditional dentures, the All-on-4 uses only four strategically placed implants to secure a full arch prosthetic. This system offers numerous benefits for patients facing tooth loss or damage, including greater stability and improved comfort.
Missing Tooth Replacement
Missing tooth replacement is a common procedure for dentists. When a tooth is missing, it can cause an imbalance in the mouth and lead to other complications such as difficulty chewing, speaking, and even problems with self-confidence. Fortunately, there are several options available to replace missing teeth.
Teeth-In-A-Day
TeethIn-A-Day is a dental procedure offered by many dentists, including those in Broomfield, Colorado. This revolutionary procedure allows patients to get their entire set of teeth replaced – from the crowns and veneers to implants and bridges – in just one day.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom tooth removal is a common dental procedure that helps maintain the health of your mouth and prevents complications. Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last teeth to develop in a person’s mouth and typically emerge between the ages of 17 and 25. If these teeth don’t have enough space to properly grow in or if they become misaligned, they can lead to a variety of problems and should be removed.
Tooth Extraction
If you’re looking for tooth extraction, there are a few options available. Depending on your specific needs, you may want to consider visiting a general dentist or an oral surgeon for the procedure. The advantages of each will depend on your particular situation and the type of extraction being performed.
